Dallas police fire officer who fatally shot man in his own apartment

Kaufman County Sheriff's Office

Amber Guyger, the Dallas police officer who was off duty when she killed her neighbor, Botham Jean, in his own apartment, was sacked by Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall on Monday morning.

Dallas Police Chief Reneé Hall issued a statement Friday explaining why no disciplinary action has been taken against Guyger.

The Dallas Police department tweeted confirmation of the termination late Monday morning.

Amber Guyger "engaged in adverse conduct when she was arrested for manslaughter", police said in a press release on Monday.

Guyger was arrested for the death of her neighbor, Botham Jean. Guyger claimed the door was ajar and she was able to open it.

Green card clampdown planned for US immigrants on benefits
According to US Citizenship and Immigration Services, 6.32 lakh Indians are waiting for their green cards as of April. The administration estimated the regulations would affect about 382,000 people a year.

Guyger fatally shot Botham Jean earlier this month in his residence.

Police said that on the night of September 6, Guyger returned home to the South Side Flats Apartment Complex. "Don't they train police?"

Police said Guyger, who was dressed in full uniform, shot Jean in his apartment.

Court records show Ms Guyger had just finished a 15-hour shift when she parked in the wrong garage before making what was apparently a tragic error. In the interim, an attorney for Jean's family voiced concern that she was getting preferential treatment as a law enforcement officer. The case will eventually be presented to a grand jury by the Dallas County District Attorney's office and that charge could be upgraded.
