Video offers a close-up view of a BC 'fire whirl'

Talk about playing with fire — this crew got in a tug of war with a fire tornado | The Bellingham Herald

On Sunday, Canadian firefighter and paramedic M.C. Schidlowsky posted video to her Instagram account showing a fire tornado near Vanderhoof, B.C., sucking a crew's fire hose almost 200 feet into the air, despite the crew's best efforts to wrestle it back in a tug of war with the twister. "That's definitely a first", Schidlowsky wrote in her post.

A fire tornado was created.

Firefighters say the "firenado" was more than 200-feet high and that it threw burning logs across their control line for 45-minutes. "Firenados" usually occur when wind connects with large bushfires, sending a whirlwind of flames, ash and debris flying through the air for miles.

Three firemen can be seen battling against the fire in a tug-of-war, eventually winning as they retrieve their hose - completely melted.

Customers will be able to purchase the Drought Relief range which will have been sourced directly from farmers in affected areas. But Mr Richardson said it was positive that the devastating impact of the drought had been acknowledged by the supermarkets.

The smoke is too thick to show it, but Schidlowsky writes that the column stretches 60 metres into the sky.

A rare and risky fire whirl has been caught on camera in British Columbia, Canada.

Currently, 333 wildfires are still burning, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service, including 10 that have been burning since June.
