RBS apologises for locking customers out of online accounts

NatWest and RBS suffer online and mobile banking borkage

The glitch came a day after some Barclays customers were left struggling to log into accounts for several hours due to a technical problem.

"We are aware that customers are now experiencing issue logging into their online and mobile banking accounts", a spokesperson told IT Pro this morning.

The RBS banking group has almost eight million customers who use mobile and online banking.

Natwest's mobile app couldn't establish a connection, and referred users to an online status page, which failed to open, a problem shared by Ulster and the two consumer banks' parent bank, RBS.

The banking problems follow TSB's huge IT meltdown earlier this year, after a botched IT switch saw millions of customers locked out of accounts.

He also said the bank's digital health was much stronger than in the recent past, with the number of incidents recorded dropping from 300 in 2014, to 20 previous year.

Banks really need to pull their socks up because this keeps happening again and again.

China, Russia warn United States of consequences over sanctions
Ryabkov reiterated that none of the rounds of sanctions had managed to force Russian Federation to change its course so far. For all of Russia's seemingly upbeat rhetoric the new measures can hurt the country's struggling economy.

During the outage, RBS Group said customers could still use telephone banking, and access to high street ATMs is unaffected.

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS.L) apologised for outages that hit its online and mobile banking services, the latest in a string of such failings at British banks which have drawn criticism from customers and lawmakers.

"We would like to apologise for the inconvenience".

"We're aware of some issues on our Online and Mobile Banking services and are working hard to fix them". Those issues have also now been fixed. Not really acceptable for our 24 economy!

Barclays was another bank to suffer a recent online banking problem, which has since been solved.

Earlier this year Ulster Bank offered customers emergency cash of up to €500 after money went missing from customer accounts. "How can we trust you with our money?"
