British diver sues Elon Musk for $75,000 over 'pedo' claim

Thai rescue diver sues Elon Musk over 'pedo' comments

The British rescue diver accused of being a "pedo guy" by Elon Musk has sued the combative CEO for libel and slander.

"Elon Musk falsely accused Vern Unsworth of being guilty of heinous crimes", Unsworth's attorney L. Lin Wood said in a statement. The story caught Musk's attention, who criticized Unsworth and the rescue workers via his Twitter account.

Vernon Unsworth says he was the first foreign diver to arrive in Thailand to help rescue the 12 boys trapped in the cave with their soccer coach.

The complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles seeks at least $75,000 of compensatory damages, plus unspecified punitive damages. Add Elon Musk as an interest to stay up to date on the latest Elon Musk news, video, and analysis from ABC News.

Hina Khan & Hiten Tejwani to appear on 'Bigg Boss 12'
Shivashish had said on the show that Bigg Boss happened because of his friend's efforts and he had nothing to do with it. But it looks like, before her fam, it's Anup and Jasleen had to face some questions from their co-contestants.

Though Unsworth told CNN three days later that Musk's offer was a "PR stunt" that had no chance of working and that Musk could "stick his submarine where it hurts", he said that did not justify Musk's use of Twitter and the media to defame him.

Musk resides in California and his two companies, SpaceX and Tesla are headquartered in the state. If you didn't know, Pedo is shorthand for pedophile.

Later on September 4, however, Musk accused Unsworth of moving to Thailand to be with a bride who was about 12 years old.

Musk eventually apologized, saying he had reacted in anger.
