Acting Chief Detective Superintendent Terry Lawrence said anyone who finds anything in their fruit should contact police, who will come and collect them as potential evidence.

She referred to the problem as "an isolated incident" and "sabotage".

Chantal Faugeras posted to Facebook images of strawberries she said were bought from a Coles supermarket on the NSW mid-north coast on Tuesday.

She said that with the affected products having been taken off the shelves, the public can now feel safe eating strawberries, adding that the incidents.

Queensland Strawberry Growers industry development officer Jennifer Rowling said the farmer had stopped all production of the fruit in response to the urgent product recall issued on Wednesday.

"Farmers are really nervous about it, obviously, and devastated something as very bad as this would happen to the industry", Ms Rowling said.

Police in Queensland, where the affected strawberries were grown, believe the contamination is deliberate.

Angela Stevenson was cutting up strawberries purchased from Woolworths in Kirkwood, for daughter Koby-Rose, 1 when she discovered a needle inside one of the strawberries.

Police have been unable to confirm whether the contaminated products are linked to the original contamination in Queensland or a copycat, however they are urging anyone who has purchased contaminated products to take the punnet to their local police station immediately for forensic testing.

Four punnets of Berry Licious and Berry Obsession strawberries, two in Queensland and two in Victoria, have been found to contain needles.

Just posting this as a warning to anyone that has bought strawberries (Berry Obsessions) from Woolworths recently.

The incident was reported to authorities on Thursday, but the strawberry punnet targeted was a different brand to other confirmed discoveries.

In case you missed the news, there have been seven confirmed cases now of strawberries with needles found in them.

Queensland chief health officer Dr Jeannette Young said the contaminated brands came from a farm in south-east Queensland, and were sold to Woolworths, but could also have been distributed to other stores.

Det. Supt. Lawrence said officers were now identifying past and present employees of the two farms concerned, which involves more than 100 people, with plans to interview them.
