Weinstein accuser reveals video of apparent harassment

Harvey Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges and denies other claims of assault and harassment

The recorded meeting and the alleged rape are both included in a class action lawsuit against Weinstein and others connected to him who might have known what was happening.

The footage, given to by United Kingdom -based Sky News, shows a 2011 meeting in New York City in which Melissa Thompson, then 28 years old, is pitching her web video and analytics start-up to the Hollywood producer for the Weinstein Company.

Melissa Thompson filmed the meeting with the Hollywood producer when she went to the Weinstein Company offices in NY in 2011. A few hours after, at his hotel room a few blocks away, Thompson said Weinstein raped her.

The video shows Thompson reacting with discomfort but also joking about his advances, saying that "data is hot".

On the video he says: "Let me have a little part of you. Can you give it to me?" I constantly felt trapped, no matter where I turned. Thompson claimed Weinstein quickly agreed to use the video platform and analytics and then suddenly put his hand under her skirt. Later footage shows Thompson re-adjusting the angle of her laptop so that she and Weinstein would remain on camera even as he beckoned her to a different part of the room.

Thompson told Sky News Weinstein was "playing a cat-and-mouse game from the very beginning to see how far he could push me, and what my reactions might be so that he could gauge how he would play with (me), where my levers were, what were my vulnerabilities". Instead, Thompson said, he raped her. He then asks, "So, am I allowed to flirt with you?" to which Thompson replies, "Um, we'll see, a little bit".

In an interview with Sky News, Thompson said she believed the meeting would have been with a marketing team, but Weinstein requested the two meet alone and can be heard in the video telling off-camera staffers not to interrupt them.

Ms Thompson replies: "Ummm we'll see, a little bit". "His eyes became dark", she said.

"I knew I was losing the ability to control the situation and keep it professional", she said. Thompson told Sky News Wednesday that she thought the two were going to meet and close the deal on the startup pitch. "I thought I could handle it, I had never met anyone that I couldn't handle... until Harvey Weinstein".

Brafman said the video shows "casual, if not awkward, flirting from both parties".

"Anything short of that is meant to make Mr. Weinstein appear inappropriate, and even exploitative", said Benjamin Brafman.

Thompson was part of a class-action lawsuit against Weinstein filed in June in which she claimed the producer began to harass and fondle her, several USA media outlets reported. I worked in Wall Street before I went to business school, and I worked in an environment that was heavily male dominated... "This is a further attempt to publicly disgrace Mr Weinstein for financial gain and we will not stand for it. Facts do matter".

Meantime, prosecutors are challenging Weinstein's attorneys' claims that they hid evidence from the jury that could have helped the disgraced filmmaker deny his sexual assault allegations, including one email in which an alleged victim wrote, "I love you, always do".

Thompson is among three women now suing the megaproducer for alleged sexual assault.
