Jon Hamm On Whether Or Not He'd Play Batman: 'It Depends'

Just yesterday we were kicking around the concept of Ryan Gosling taking over the role, but today a new idea has been brought to our attention, courtesy the wildly talented Jon Hamm. The three are fully expected to reprise their roles as Flash, Aquaman and Wonder Woman for years to come. Ben Affleck has been the incumbent in the dual role of Bruce Wayne and Batman since Dawn Of Justice, but his future appears to be up in the air as Matt Reeves moves forward with his own vision of the caped crusader that may or may not include the current actor.

Despite being a self-professed comic book nerd (he loved Black Panther and his friend is Legion showrunner Noah Hawley), Hamm hasn't been offered anything, suggesting that he has been close to the Hollywood players that make comic book films a reality.

This is pretty much the opposite of what we've seen from Ben Affleck.

Actor Jon Hamm, who played ad man Draper on the AMC period drama Mad Men, says he's a comics fan, and might be interested in playing Batman in the movies.

"It depends on the script, what the story is".

EU's Juncker eyes Africa free trade pact
Meanwhile, Mr Juncker said solidarity with Ireland over tough Brexit talks would remain a priority for the EU. The core of the speech moved to the less controversial issue of the EU's place in the world.

It's not like Hamm was rah-rah enthusiastic about the role.

"I have never had a conversation with anybody about it, literally", Hamm said.

Speaking with television sports reporter Graham Bensinger on an episode of his eponymous interview series In Depth with Graham Bensinger, Hamm revealed that he's interested in playing Batman, as he's been a comic book fan since he was young. "I'm a huge comic book fan, always have been". Those are the kinds of lessons I think they're starting to translate into the films now. And I like the genre, and I like when they're done well... He loves the genre (he particularly loved Black Panther), thinks he'd fit the suit (though he's not insane about all the physical training the role would presumably require), and says - should Warner Bros. come knocking - "Why not?"

Hamm added, "Never been offered anything. But, I mean, a lot of people have to sign off on that, obviously not just the Internet".

"I am sure there's an interesting version of that being out there", Hamm said.
