CBS ‘60 Minutes’ Executive Producer Jeff Fager to Depart

Les Moonves

After CBS fired "60 Minutes" producer Jeff Fager on Wednesday, Fager claimed that he'd been ousted for sending a "harsh" text to a CBS reporter who was covering the allegations of sexual misconduct made against him.

According to Farrow's report, Fager has been accused of groping or inappropriately touching female CBS News staffers at company events.

CBS News chairman and "60 Minutes" executive producer Jeff Fager speaks at the discussion panel during the 2012 Summer Television Critics Association tour on July 29, 2012 in Los Angeles. "There are people who lost their jobs trying to harm me and if you pass on these damaging claims without your own reporting to back them up that will become a serious problem".

Despite allegations of misconduct first reported by The New Yorker, Rhodes said Wednesday's action was "not directly related to the allegations" that surfaced in those press reports, but rather because Fager, who has worked for CBS for more than 35 years, "violated company policy". "My language was harsh and, despite the fact that all journalists receive harsh demands for fairness all the time, CBS did not like it".

Apple Says Proposed China Tariffs Will Boost Product Prices
Even if Apple were to start making iPhones in the U.S. , it would take a while for the brand to set everything up. The US has imposed $50 billion worth of tariffs on Chinese goods with another $200 billion in the final stages.

Fager said he would not have thought that one note would have resulted in a dismissal after 36 years at the network, "but it did".

In August, the CBS board of directors hired outside lawyers to investigate the claims against Moonves, as well as "cultural issues at all levels of CBS".

He said Mr Fager had "violated company policy", without elaborating on how. The article said 19 current and former employees said Fager enabled a culture that "shielded bad behavior". Its chief executive officer, Leslie Moonves, was forced out last weekend after the New Yorker reported that more women had come forward alleging they were assaulted by the executive.

"All of a sudden, I felt a hand on my ass... The hand belonged to an arm which belonged to Jeff Fager", she told Farrow. CBS Evening News addressed his firing in a report that included a show of support from anchor Jeff Glor. Farrow corroborated Johansen's story with a male producer on the show. Earlier this week, CBS announced plans to donate $20 million to charities affiliated with the #MeToo movement and equality for women in the workplace.
