De Bruyne set for three months on the sidelines

Danny Rose 10 players who could leave the Premier League

Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne, a pivotal figure in Manchester City's title-winning campaign, will be out of action for three months because of a knee injury, the club said Friday.

After sustaining the injury in training on Wednesday, De Bruyne appeared at the premiere of All or Nothing, a documentary about last season's champions to be aired on Amazon Prime, on crutches and with his right knee in a brace.

Tests have revealed the midfielder will not require surgery but is likely to be sidelined until mid-November.

It was believed that the ligament tear would keep him from the Manchester City first team for the next few months and significantly dent their chances of defending their Premier League title.

At the time, Franklin's career had hit a bit of a slump, as she was navigating pop music's transition through soul to disco. She made worldwide headlines in 2008, when she sang "My Country 'Tis of Thee" during President Barack Obama's inauguration.

The Belgium global, a second-half substitute in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Arsenal, suffered the injury in training on Wednesday.

De Bruyne, City's Player of the Year last season, had only returned to the club last week after being allowed extended time away from the squad following his involvement at the World Cup with Belgium.

City failed to sign another midfielder during the summer transfer window but can call upon David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden as alternative options.

But his recovery will mean he misses the Premier League clash with the team many think will be City's main title rivals, Liverpool, on October 7 and the Manchester Derby on November 11 as well as part of the Champions League group stage.
