Senior Chinese delegates to visit USA for trade war talks

China's Ministry of Commerce is sending a trade delegation to the United States the first formal dialogue between the two countries in two months

A Chinese delegation led by Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen will meet US representatives led by Under Secretary of Treasury for International Affairs David Malpass, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on its website.

Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen, the deputy representative on worldwide trade negotiations, will meet with a senior U.S. treasury official, David Malpass, at the invitation of the United States, the ministry said in a statement.

China's Commerce Ministry says it will not accept any unilateral trade measures, but welcome dialogue.

China and the United States have retaliated back and forth with tit-for-tat tariffs and have threatened further tariffs on exports worth hundreds of billions of dollars. Since those talks ended, the US and China have been locked in a trade standoff as they slapped tariffs on billions of dollars of each other's goods.

The rise means the average commuter will pay £2,980 for their season ticket - up by £786 compared to 2010. It comes in lower than last year's rise of 3.6%, which was the highest increase for five years.

Following that, Washington imposed its first round of 25 tariffs on $34 billion of Chinese goods on July 6 in response to complains Beijing steals or pressures foreign companies to hand over technology. Other Countries should not be allowed to come in and steal the wealth of our great United States of America.

After negotiations in Washington in May, Beijing believed it had assurances from the US that tariffs were off the table, with Mnuchin saying the trade war and tariffs were "on hold". China responded with similar penalties on American imports. Donald Trump's administration is threatening further tariffs on $200bn of Chinese goods, in a bid to pressure U.S. companies to bring production back to the US.

"I think we are still at an ice breaking stage, the two sides are testing each other's bottom line", he said, noting that it will be a lower-level meeting than the previous talks.
