The name's Elba, Idris Elba

Daniel Craig

It was believed that the actor was one of the frontrunners for the role after Daniel Craig's term as the super British spy, James Bond, ends and the actor's recent tweet has only fuelled the speculations further.

On Sunday, Elba posted a series of cryptic tweets, beginning with a heavily filtered selfie accompanied by the caption "my name's Elba, Idris Elba", a clear reference to the famous line spoken by Bond.

Idris Elba has - possibly? - given his two cents on the rumors that he's been floated as a new James Bond.

It quoted Hollywood director Antoine Fuqua recalling a chat with longtime Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, who allegedly said "it is time" for an ethnic minority actor to star as 007 and "it will happen eventually".

Twitter reacted to his post with a host of memes, including a photoshopped President Trump holding up a picture of Elba and announcing him as the new Bond, and a proud looking Sean Connery punching the air.

Imran hopes for resumption of Pak-India talks in meeting with envoy
The most significant aspect of the conversation was Modi's unambiguous willingness to improve his country's ties with Pakistan . In his victory speech last month, Khan had said that Pakistan wanted to have a mutually beneficial relationship with the US.

While rumors linking Elba to the role have churned the rumor mill since 2014, fans are taking it as a hint that perhaps all that talk might be true for when Daniel Craig, who has confirmed to play 007 one more time, will leave the mega franchise next year. "You need a guy with physically strong presence".

Elba, 45, made his name in gritty United States television drugs drama "The Wire" and won a Golden Globe for his role as a murder detective in "Luther", before moving to the big screen.

"I mean what do we have to do here?"

Production on the 25th Bond film, led by Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle, will begin in December.
