Torchlight series returns with shared-world action-RPG Torchlight Frontiers

Torchlight Frontiers

"Two is to create a service game where, after we go live and we put it out and are with people, we can continue to develop the world of Torchlight with our community".

The Torchlight series then spawned a sequel in Torchlight 2 back in 2012, and for those who were hoping to see what could be next, it looks like we have our answer with Torchlight Frontiers.

But again, it's unclear whether Torchlight Frontiers, the newly announced game, is sticking to series tradition. In true "Torchlight" style, players will team up with friends and their devoted pets to hack and slash their way through a vibrant world, discover ancient ruins of lost civilizations, and courageous dungeons filled with riches and risky creatures, Perfect World said.

Torchlight isn't dead. It was just sleeping, apparently, because today Torchlight Frontiers was announced.

In a surprising twist of fate, previous Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer will be working on Frontiers alongside some of his old colleagues. Torchlight Frontiers will be a living, breathing universe that will still feel uniquely Torchlight, while we add our own creative spin to the game.

Popular role-playing game franchise Torchlight is finally making the jump from PC to PlayStation, but perhaps not in the form many would have wanted. "The team is building something truly special, and we can't wait for fans to play it for the first time at Gamescom and PAX West", he said.

Additional details about Torchlight Frontiers will be revealed at a later date.

We don't know much about the game, other than the following blurb. The franchise was originally developed by Runic Games, which closed in 2017.

Announcement of the closure prompted Runic studio head Marsh Lefler to reassure the public, stating "you haven't heard the last of us".
