Recording reveals Nunes saying Rosenstein impeachment would complicate Kavanaugh confirmation

Rep. Devin Nunes, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said he publicly supports the removal of Deput

"So if we actually vote to impeach, OK, what that does is that triggers the Senate then has to take it up", he said on the recording. He is an adamantly pro-Trump lawmaker who in February released a memorandum accusing the intelligence community of conspiring against the president.

Maddow said on Wednesday that the audio, which MSNBC described as a "secret audio recording", was obtained by a progressive group called Fuse Washington after one of its members paid to attend a private fundraiser held last week for Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a member of House GOP leadership.

The Republican House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes is anxious about the November midterm elections.

"Sessions won't un-recuse, and Mueller won't clear the president, we're the only ones", Nunes said, according to the audio, which first aired publicly on MSNBC Wednesday night.

Nunes was "caught" on tape stating the obvious: that Republicans needed to retain their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives to protect President Donald Trump from impeachment.

Nunes also later talked about the upcoming November midterms and his concerns about keeping the Republican majority in the Senate and the House, all to keep Trump as president. "It's a matter of, it's a matter of timing".

Bookmaker Ladbrokes said the United Kingdom could still see 35C at least once this week before the heatwave ends. But the heatwave is set to end come Wednesday when temperatures are likely to dip to around the mid-20Cs mark.

Asked about the the impeachment plans, Nunes told a questioner that "it's a bit complicated" because "we only have so many months left".

In a newly released recording of Rep. Devin Nunes at a recent GOP fundraiser, the California Republican made explicit what many have long suspected regarding his actions toward special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation probe: He views his main task not as getting to the truth or fighting for justice but as protecting President Donald Trump. "I don't think you're gonna get any argument from most of our colleagues. The question is the timing of it right before the election".

Conservatives who want to impeach Rosenstein accuse him of improperly handling the Russian Federation investigation and not complying with Congressional requests.

In another portion of the recording, Nunes appears to admit that if a candidate received "secret information" like "stolen emails" from a foreign government, and that candidate released them, it would be a criminal act. "But ultimately let's say the Portuguese came and brought her some stolen emails, and she chose to release those".

"Like sometimes you love the president's tweets, sometimes we cringe on the president's tweets", he said, attempting to discredit Mueller's purported examination of Trump's inflammatory posts as part of his inquiry into possible obstruction of justice.

"This is all political", Nunes said.
