54 years after entering production for the first time, Ford has managed to achieve something impressive - 10 million Mustangs. While an official announcement from Ford has not been made yet and is due tomorrow, the 10 millionth vehicle has already been produced and is of course, a V8.
Ford has celebrated the production of the 10 millionth Mustang at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in MI, more than five decades after the first example rolled off the line. There's good reason for the specifications, too. It's a 2019 GT convertible painted in Wimbledon White, packing a 460-horsepower V8 mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
"Fifty-four years ago I bought a auto, (and) we're still talking about it", said Wise, who bought the baby blue Mustang for $3,447.50. Boasting 164bhp when new, the Mustang has evolved significantly since the first example rolled off the production line - the current V8 churns out a stock 416bhp.
More than 60 Ford Mustang owners of all model years assembled to spell out the milestone number with their cars, which was then followed by a flyover in a P-51 Mustang vintage fighter plane.
"Mustang is the heart and soul of this company and a favourite around the world", Jim Farley, Ford's president of global markets, said in a news release.

Chelsea confirm signing Kepa Arrizabalaga on seven-year contract for £71.6m
Explaining the reasons for his move, the Golden Glove victor at World Cup 2018 said: "I wanted to be closer to my family". In January, he signed a new long-term contract with Bilbao until 2025, amid interest from Real Madrid .
The company plans to display the first Mustang ever purchased and editions from every year of production during a parade from its headquarters in Dearborn, Mich., to Flat Rock.
It's not all been smooth sailing, however.
But don't go looking for the 10 millionth in showrooms.
The Ford Mustang is by far the most iconic muscle vehicle known to mankind.
