Senate shuts down possibility of Russian Federation questioning United States officials

Donald Trump invites Vladimir Putin to visit Washington in autumn

Moscow is open to a possible visit by Vladimir Putin to Washington after a surprise invitation from Donald Trump, Russia's USA envoy has said.

This meeting came as somewhat of a shock to the Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats when he was told during a press conference on Thursday.

Amid a puzzling week of flip-flopping on Russian meddling, Donald Trump has promised to be Vladimir Putin's arch nemesis if re-engagement with Moscow is a dud - while underscoring that getting along with Russia is desirable. Angered by a federal Russian Federation probe that is also examining whether Trump's election campaign worked with Moscow, Trump has long denied any collusion and has denounced the investigation as a witch hunt.

As he spoke, news was breaking out of Washington that Putin had been invited to the White House this fall.

No Russian leader has visited the White House in almost a decade and it would be a diplomatic coup for Mr Putin, who has been isolated by the West for activities in Ukraine, Syria and the nerve agent attack in Salisbury. Putin proposed his cooperation to let US investigators question the intelligence agents in exchange for an opportunity to question individuals on Russia's list of alleged criminals.

"I don't know what happened in that meeting", he said.
In a story explaining the cover, the editors said the merged image represents the conflict between the question of alleged collusion with Russian Federation and the question of whether Russian Federation attempted to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Trump then told CNBC: "Getting along with President Putin getting along with Russian Federation is positive not a negative". "The added funds will provide equipment to support ongoing training programs and operational needs, including capabilities to enhance Ukraine's command and control, situational awareness systems, secure communications, military mobility, night vision, and military medical treatment", the Defense Department said in a statement.

Both Putin and Trump described their Helsinki talks as a success in public statements after the summit. Putin has said this will be combat ready in 2020.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Trump's goal was to "redirect" two countries "that'd been on a bad path".

"Hopefully, President Putin will have the 12 identified Russians come to the United States to prove their innocence or guilt".

At a joint press conference in Helsinki, Putin said Trump "continues to maintain" that the annexation of Crimea was illegal, and he disagreed.

President Trump managed to insight a furore following his remarks at a press conference in Finland, in which he brushed off the claims Russian Federation had meddled in the 2016 U.S. election.

However, neither Trump nor the White House has confirmed any agreements between the two countries. The law freezes the bank accounts and bars entry to the United States of Russian officials who USA authorities said were responsible for the Russian lawyer's suspicious death.

He said he hadn't seen Trump's invitation himself, but that "Russia was always open to such proposals".
