No Confidence motion debate: Rahul Gandhi's wink says it all

No confidence motion in Parliament

Modi said he cannot imagine the truth can be crushed like this and the country can be misled in such a manner.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi after his speech on No Confidence motion at the Lok Sabha walked across the aisle, and hugged PM Narendra Modi.

"He (Gandhi) stated that under pressure from the PM, (Defence Minister) Nirmala Sitharaman told lies to the nation".

When asked about how was the prime minister's speech while he was coming out out of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi said it was "weak".

"Thank you so much for teaching me my dharma and the importance of being a Hindu and I would like to sincerely thank you for that". How dare I look them in the eye?" continued the prime minister, adding, "whenever anyone tried to look into their eyes - be it Subhas Chandra Bose, Morarji Desai, Jayaprakash Narayan, Chaudhary Charan Singh, Chandra Shekhar, HD Deve Gowda - see what happened to them. Several AIADMK members opposed the motion, in a boost to the NDA. He further said, "You may think there is anger, hatred in my heart for the prime minister". I have been watching the negative politics of opposition that wants to stop the politics of development in the country. Everybody understands the amount of money that goes into the marketing of the prime minister and everybody knows who have funded that.

Modi himself is known for his bear hugs, embracing world leaders such as U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

This is not his government's floor test but a "force test" that the Congress has done to see which parties are with it, he said. "Opposition parties should not doubt the mandate of the people", said Modi.

Gandhi, who is rallying his supporters for the Lok Sabha elections next year, said his party's politics were above hate and that he bore no personal animosity towards Modi. Lawyer Prashant Bhushan wrote, "the manner in which BJP is disrupting Rahul Gandhi's speech in the #NoConfidenceMotion, especially when he spoke of Rafale deal, JayShah, Ambani, Adani, NiMo, State of women & lynching shows it's nervousness on being exposed on economy, law&order, corruption & crony Capitalism". "Thank God we made a decision to stay out of this entire exercise", said senior Biju Janata Dal MP Bharatruhari Mahatab.

This would be Modi government's first no-confidence motion in past four years.
