Boris Johnson delivers stinging resignation speech

The Latest: Johnson says it's not too late save Brexit

Many hard Brexit supporters of the proposal seemed too soft, resigned from their posts has left the Minister for Brexit David Davis and the Minister of foreign Affairs Boris Johnson, as well as several Deputy Ministers.

May told a meeting of select committee chairpersons that papers detailing a no-deal scenario will be published this fall.

Johnson didn't attack May directly - he noted her "courage and resilience".

In a devastating assault, Mr Johnson accused the PM of misleading voters about her intentions and putting the United Kingdom "in limbo" with the Chequers plan she forced through Cabinet.

He added that it is "Not too late to save Brexit, ' and added, 'We must try to save Brexit because we will not get another chance". "We have time in these negotiations - we have changed tack once and we can change again".

In the end, Johnson's speech didn't appear to be the doomsday speech for May that some had feared.

It is rare for ministers to deliver such a speech in Parliament.

The entire trade bill passed by 31 votes and now moves to the House of Lords for further scrutiny before returning to the Commons for a final vote.

The government narrowly won three votes in parliament on trade and customs arrangements this week despite rebellions by pro-European members of her party.

Tories apologise for breaking vote pledge
The Tory spokesman said: "We have apologised for the fact that a pregnancy pairing arrangement was broken in error this week". But other Conservative MPs, including Anna Soubry, Peter Bone and Heidi Allen, have also raised concerns.

Mr Trump then said on Tuesday that he misspoke during the news conference and accepted the intelligence agencies' conclusions. Top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer immediately criticized the planned invitation.

As he affirmed his support for U.S. intelligence agencies, the lights went to black in the White House conference room. Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating that allegation and any possible collusion by Trump's campaign.

The BBC's chief political correspondent Vicki Young said Johnson's friends were insisting he was not trying to emulate Sir Geoffrey Howe, whose caustic resignation speech in 1990 is widely seen as having paved the way for Margaret Thatcher's downfall weeks later.

Mark Carney, governor of the Bank of England, has been urging the EU to come to a deal on derivatives, without which European banks and corporations would...

"Preparedness is a big issue for us and work has been going on for some time".

However, while European Union leaders have made no secret of being ready to extend the deadline for a few weeks, there are reservations about any longer delay, short of a U-turn in Britain and a call from London to call Brexit off.

If that deal is not sealed in time, there would be no transition period either, and thus no extra time to prepare.

May also sought to rally support in later meetings with Conservative Party backbenchers known as the 1922 Committee and with the Parliamentary Liaison Committee that includes the leaders of all the House of Commons select committees.

He added: 'All it shows is that, while the vehicle is careering towards the Brexit cliff-edge, senior Conservatives are fighting over what song to play on the stereo.' The prime minister wasn't even in the Commons to hear the address because she was answering questions about Brexit to a committee of MPs. It falls eight short of the 48 needed to trigger a vote.

US President Donald Trump on his visit to Britain last week had said Mr Johnson would make "a great prime minister". An unconvincing election victory and lingering Brexit anxieties have been exacerbated by Michael Fallon's recent Cabinet resignation; while Priti Patel and Boris Johnson have also made serious mistakes. "I'm sure in good faith, if that energy and that ambition is reciprocated, as I'm confident it will be, we will get there".
