Police find Novichok bottle that poisoned Amesbury couple, killed woman

Amesbury poisoning: Police REVEAL source of deadly Novichok

The police previously said that they found the Soviet-era nerve agent in a "small bottle" in Mr Charlie Rowley's home in Amesbury, near the city of Salisbury in south-west England.

"On Wednesday, July 11, a small bottle was found during a search of the house Charlie Rowley in Amesbury".

Contacted by AFP, the police refused to confirm the claim.

Police and counter-terrorism investigators looking into the Amesbury incident say they haven't yet determined if there's a link to the Skripals' case.

People poisoned with Novichok and other nerve agents essentially die due to secretions - vomiting, diarrhea and urinary incontinence occur all at once - said Dr. Peter R. Chai of the Division of Medical Toxicology in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Russian Federation has been blamed for the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal using the substance in nearby Salisbury.

Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, national lead for Counter Terrorism (CT) Policing in the United Kingdom, described the process as "painstaking and vital work". "However, we can not guarantee that there isn't any more of the substance left", Basu said.

Police said the two had been exposed to a "high dose" of the substance and had handled a contaminated object. The continued blocking off of areas would "allow thorough searches to continue as a precautionary measure for public safety and to assist the investigation team".

UK found nerve agent allegedly used to poison UK woman, ex-Russian spy: report | TheHill

Ms Sturgess' heartbroken son has been told it could be "weeks or even months" before he is able to bury his mother.

Mr Rowley fell ill there on June 30, hours after his 44-year partner Dawn Sturgess collapsed after being exposed to the same nerve agent.

Scientists at the Defence, Science and Technology Laboratory were testing the Novichok to determine whether it is part of the same batch used to poison former Russian spy and British double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia Skripal, in March.

Post-mortem tests on Ms Sturgess are expected to take place on Tuesday and an inquest into her death is set to open and adjourn in Salisbury on Thursday.

Britain blames the Russian government for the March attack, an accusation the Kremlin has denied.

"We continue to support colleagues from the Counter Terrorism Policing Network to progress the inquiry as swiftly and safely as possible".

The advice remains "if you didn't drop it, then don't pick it up", a spokesman said.
