Apple Apple unveils 70 new emojis on World Emoji Day

Apple has unveiled more than 70 new emoji designs coming to its iOS and Mac software later this year, including bald people and those with red, grey and curly hair.

The update includes more than 70 images of people, animals, food and other objects.

Other emoji additions include male and female superhero emoji, a softball, an infinity symbol, and a nazar amulet.

Some of the most interesting new emojis Apple will release later this year are a variety of emojis with various hair types.

World Emoji Day is an unofficial holiday which has become a popular event for companies to showcase their emojis.

As is becoming more regular for Apple, the Cupertino outfit shared the news via a newsroom post with confirmation now available that the new emoji will be available to users of Apple's platforms under the Unicode 11 update.

Facebook now has over 2,800 emojis available for use, and some are more popular than others. The original list included some that aren't previewed in Apple's announcement, such as a llama and a mosquito.

During the WWDC this year, Apple also announced that Animoji, which allow users to animate the facial expressions of emojis using facial recognition technology, is getting an update. Both have since been corrected.

In a time when nearly every day is some sort of a weird holiday, including such stand-outs as National Lumpy Rug Day and National Ampersand Day (yes, these do exist), would you be surprised to find out that there's also World Emoji Day? Facebook has also released two new features.
