Ex-minister backs new Brexit vote as eurosceptics pressure May

Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May leaves the BBC after appearing on the Andrew Marr Show in central London

Mann's resignation comes as MPs are set to vote on a series of Commons amendments which are meant to send a message to the prime minister on the strength of feeling surrounding her Chequers plan.

Faced with claims that up to 100 Tories would rebel in favor of these amendments, May's office announced the government would accept them all, arguing that they weren't out of line with her policy.

Boris Johnson, a rival to May, quit last week as foreign secretary in protest, while the man who had been leading the Brexit negotiations, David Davis, also quit in protest.

Sir Bernard said: "These amendments were only ever about clarifying Government policy, that the United Kingdom will not join a customs union with the EU, nor agree to split Northern Ireland from the United Kingdom for customs purposes, that we are leaving the EU VAT regime, and any customs arrangement with the EU is not one-sided".

Rees-Mogg said she still had time to change course but said the current plan would only go through parliament with the support of opposition votes. It's getting harder and harder for the prime minister to get things through Parliament - and while calls for a second referendum are widely rejected, that sentiment could change if this kind of gridlock continues.

However, it wasn't without drama as junior defence minister Guto Bebb resigned his post.

May's leadership has been precarious since she unveiled her proposed new Brexit negotiating strategy at her Chequers residence and detailed it in a white paper last week.

The FDA is warning patients who take valsartan to make sure their medication was not manufactured by the offending company . It is also a byproduct from pesticide manufacturing, or during the making of rubber tires or fish processing.

Because other lawmakers were absent, May survived the vote.

The move, explicitly ruled out by No 10, is expected to be voted on at about 18.00 BST.

"Our proposal sets out the right deal for the United Kingdom - honoring the democratic decision of the British people, protecting the integrity of our precious union, supporting growth, maintaining security and safeguarding British jobs", May said at the opening of the Farnborough Airshow.

May has vowed to stick to her plan to negotiate the closest possible trade ties with the European Union, saying her strategy is the only one that can meet the government's aims for Brexit, the biggest shift in Britain's foreign and trade policy for decades.

A head of steam is clearly building among anti-Brexit Tories. "And the only reason that the government has accepted these amendments is because it is frightened of somewhere in the region of 40 members of parliament - the hard, no deal Brexiteers, who should have been seen off a long time ago and should be seen off". "You tell that to the people of my constituency".

The United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union in a referendum in 2016.

Former Cabinet minister Ms Patel, who tabled the amendment calling for reciprocal action on collecting tariffs, said the move was "constructive". Contributions of 200 words or more will be considered for publication.
