Distraught US mum shares warning after toddler’s narrow escape from washing machine

An Electrolux washing machine is offered for sale at an appliance store

McIver said, in the end, parents have to help each other out.

McIver said her daughter was screaming, but couldn't be heard.

The McIvers, of Conifer, Colo., plan on exchanging the front-loading machine they got at Lowe's for a top loader. We spent that evening installing it with the kids underfoot.

But McIver says fortunately they were able to stop the machine just in time, unlock the door and get Kloe out.

Despite telling their children to stay away from the washer, Lindsey told The Post she believes Kloe climbed in and Jace shut the door, pushing the machine's buttons while his sister was inside. In a Facebook post last Wednesday, McIver writes that she was somewhat reluctant to share her story due to fears of "the inevitable online mom-shaming", but that she felt like she needed to share "the danger of this machine"-her brand-new washing machine".

While the McIvers added their own external child-safety lock to the front of the washing machine, Lindsey McIver said she would rather not look at it sitting in the basement after what happened to her daughter.

A brand new appliance brought with it a brand new warning for parents after a near-tragic accident prompted one mother to share her story.

It all began with two curious kids and a shiny new washing machine. "We told them several times that they were not to touch it", McIver said.

Since retiring from athletics, the Jamaican has trained with Borussia Dortmund and most recently linked up with Norwegian side Strømsgodset.

"We thought it was the 'new and cool" type of washing machine and didn't think anything of it, ' Lindsey McIver wrote. "We knew it locked, but we didn't know if we would even be able to get it back open at that point, so we were just grateful to be able to figure out how to open it and get her out quickly".

"Aside from a couple of small bumps on her head and wet clothes, she was fine", McIver said.

"But it does not lock the door", she said. We are continually surprised at the new, inventive ways our kids come up with to try and die.

When activated, the machine can not be used, according to Brucia.

McIver concluded by saying while there were ways to prevent this from happening, accidents happen. 'This is the season for swimming pool accidents and kids being left in hot cars and all sorts of other awful accidents. Accidents. Shaming the mom doesn't do anyone any good.

Her post has been shared nearly 300,000 times.

"We need to be open and honest about our mistakes to help one another keep our kids safe. And trust me, that mom is already beating herself up enough".

The company added, "We encourage people to use this important safety setting and to contact our customer support team if they need any assistance". She subsequently discovered the LG machine has a child-lock setting that, when activated, prevents the washer from being turned on, but it doesn't keep the door in a locked mode.
