Target to offer 15 percent discount for teachers on classroom supplies

Target is offering up a special deal to teachers before school starts

Next week, Target says they will give our nation's educators a 15% off select classroom supplies.

The discount - good from July 15 through July 21 - can be used on numerous items, such as pens, pencils, crayons, markers, classroom storage, tissues and hand sanitizer, according to the post.

This is the first time the Minneapolis-based retailer has offered special savings to teachers, the company said.

To claim it, teachers just need to go to target.com/teacherprep starting July 15 and share some quick details to get their coupon code. In Miami-Dade County, the return date is August 21.

Most teachers in America spend money out of pocket for school supplies.

In a National Center of Education Statistics study released in May, 94 percent of teachers reported spending their own money on supplies. As of Friday afternoon, the link was not active, but Target announced it will be Sunday.
