Hillary Clinton hits Trump over Putin summit, with a World Cup reference

Trump has also said that he is going into his meeting with Putin with "low expectations", reported CBS News.

But Jon Huntsman, the USA ambassador to Russian Federation, says Monday's meeting "is really the first time for both presidents to actually sit across the table and have a conversation, and I hope it's a detailed conversation about where we might be able to find some overlapping and shared interests".

The fact that the meeting is happening at all is already a win for the Kremlin, which has long sought a summit but has been pushed back by Washington, analyst Andrei Baklitsky said.

Instead the encounter should be viewed as part of the building blocks that Mr Trump was constructing to exercise United States power under his America First project.

Thirteen Russian nationals and three companies were previously indicted for interfering in the election, but this is the first time government officials there were charged in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's ongoing probe.

Friday's charges against the 12 Russian officers alleging they hacked Democratic computer networks in 2016 represented the most detailed US accusation yet that Moscow meddled in the election to help Trump.

Trump's summit with Putin is coming three days after special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers, accusing them of meddling in the 2016 USA presidential election to help Trump win the White House.

"He has a good sense of where he wants to go".

In recent months, he has also been highly critical of the European Union in trade terms, arguing that its policies make it hard for US exporters.

None of the charges allege Trump advisers colluded with Russian Federation to interfere with the presidential campaign.

In a pre-summit interview with CBS News' "Face the Nation" program aired on Sunday, Trump lumped in the European Union with China and Russian Federation as US economic adversaries.

Disney's offer for Fox's entertainment assets is higher than Comcast's , at around $38 per share compared to $35 per share. Long-term goals: Murdoch is keeping news and major live sports assets seen as less vulnerable to online ads and streaming.

There will be outrage at home if Mr. Trump does not confront Mr. Putin over the scandal, but the mercurial US leader would not say whether he would demand the suspects' extradition.

Some politicians in the West believe the summit is happening at one of the most crucial junctures for the West since the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union.

May appeared perplexed when revealing what she said Trump's advice was, and laughed when the BBC anchor asked her if she had given the idea any thought.

"That's what one of the purposes of this meeting is, so the president can see eye to eye with President Putin and ask him about it", he told ABC News.

The United States is not seeking "concrete deliverables" from the Trump-Putin meeting, a senior White House adviser said on Sunday.

Congressional Democrats and at least one Republican have called on Trump to pull out of Monday's meeting unless he is willing to make Russian election-meddling the top issue. "He can't simply raise it, accept Putin's denial and then let him off the hook", Schumer said in a statement.

Trump often blames Obama for problems affecting his presidency. "And third, President Trump should not agree to weaken, lift, or curtail any of the sanctions on Russian Federation".

The U.S. doesn't have an extradition treaty with Moscow and can't force the Russians to hand over citizens.

Many Western politicians remain angry over Russia's annexation of Crimea, its backing of pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine, and its support for Syria's Bashar al-Assad.

Putin has denied meddling in the election.
