Kevin Anderson through to Wimbledon final after six-hour marathon clash

Isner reaches Wimbledon semi-finals after victory over Raonic

John Isner of the USA leaves the court after being defeated by Kevin Anderson of South Africa in the men's semifinal match at Wimbledon on Friday.

"With how I'm feeling physically and mentally, I'm in a very good spot", Isner said in his post-match press conference.

Fast food chain Nandos, which originated from South Africa, has pledged to give away free meals to people who share names with the two players, until Anderson is knocked out of the tournament or wins the final. He reached the final of the US Open past year before losing to Rafael Nadal.

The 32-year-old, the first South African Wimbledon men's finalist since Brian Norton in 1921, faces Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal in Sunday's showpiece.

The victor will face either Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic for the title on Sunday.

Isner has won eight of the 11 professional matches against Anderson and is projected by many to advance from this battle of two of the game's biggest servers.

As the fifth set dragged on and on, the American Isner appeared more visibly exhausted and had to survive more scares on his own serve than Anderson.

As it became clear that Isner was due for another endless fifth set, tennis fans were far from delighted.

The former Bulldog broke right back to even the set once again. The two went back and forth all the way to 12-all, essentially playing a full sixth and seventh set. Anderson finally earned the must-have, go-ahead service break with the help of a point in which the right-hander tumbled to his backside, scrambled back to his feet and hit a shot lefty.

Isner then shrugged off needing treatment on a blistered serving hand, found time to usher a ladybird to safety before levelling the match in another tiebreak off his 19th ace. We played each other in college probably three, four, five times.
