FDA flags sale of recalled Kellogg's Honey Smacks cereal

FDA: Retailers cannot legally sell Kellogg's Honey Smacks cereal following recall

The number of people with salmonella linked to Kellogg's Honey Smacks cereal has grown to 100 across the USA, prompting the CDC to issue a blunt warning via tweet: "Do not eat this cereal". No deaths have been reported in this outbreak.

The warning came less than a month after the company launched an investigation with the third-party manufacturer who produces the cereal after being contacted by the Food & Drug Administration and CDC regarding reported illnesses. Those symptoms can last between four and seven days, and such illnesses send about 23,000 people to the hospital every year, according to the CDC.

Kellogg in June recalled an estimated 1.3 million cases of its Honey Smacks cereal from more than 30 US states due to the potential for Salmonella contamination.

"Even if some of the cereal has been eaten and no one got sick, throw the rest of it away or return it for a refund", the CDC said in a statement on its website. "All Honey Smacks cereal was recalled in June 2018".

Coming back to save Pakistan from conspirators: Nawaz
Maryam, daughter and political heir of the ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, added that "anyone would have reacted" to such unacceptable act.

State and local health officials continue to investigate the outbreak.

If you see Honey Smacks being sold at a store, you are asked to call the FDA consumer complaint coordinator in your area.

"Laboratory testing identified the outbreak strain of Salmonella in unopened and opened boxes of Honey Smacks cereal collected from retail locations and from ill people's homes", the new report stated. However, the CDC says Honey Smacks products with earlier dates could also potentially be contaminated. Kellogg's Honey Smacks cereal has a UPC code of 38000 39103. The UPC code is on the bottom of the box.
