Homeless man with no arms charged with stabbing tourist

He was detained near the attack in a popular shopping and tourist area near South Beach and charged with one count of aggravated battery, a second-degree felony, police said.

Jonathan Crenshaw was often seen on the streets of South Beach painting canvas with his brush between his toes.

Jonathan Crenshaw, 46, is known locally for the detailed works of art he creates using his feet, the same extremities police say he used to jam a pair of scissors into 22-year-old Cesar Coronado.

A homeless man with no arms has been charged with stabbing a tourist. The man then allegedly stabbed Coronado twice before fleeing the scene, according to the arrest report. Police arrested him in the 200 block of Lincoln Road.

On Monday night, his usual hangout turned violent.

Crenshaw claimed he acted in self-defense after Coronado punched him in the head, the Herald reports.

The newspaper notes that Rodriguez, who is a legal US citizen, was released from the hospital and has been recovering at home. Rodriguez had planned to visit family in Mexico at the end of the week, but the trip has been canceled, his daughter said.

But a female friend who was traveling with Coronado told a different story.

Coronado and his friend Cindy Barrientos, who was present during the incident, both told the responding officers that they were just asking Crenshaw for directions when he jumped up and stabbed him, as per a Miami Herald report.

He was taken to the hospital.

Crenshaw has been charged with aggravated battery.

Along with multiple charges of battering police, Crenshaw's record also includes trespassing and disorderly intoxication arrests.
