In Iran videobloger arrested for posting dancing video to Instagram.

"In April, the judiciary arrested a senior Iranian official after a video posted online that showed young boys and girls dancing in public in the northeastern holy Shi'ite city of Mashhad for undermining public decency".

The detainees forcibly appeared on state television to make confessions to their crimes, including Hojabri, who explained the intention of the video was only for her 600,000 followers, not for personal attention.

In a video released by the Iranian State TV on Friday, the teen is shown confessing to breaking "moral norms." .

Iranian authorities may have intended her arrest as a warning to the public, but it has also inspired an outpouring of support from Iranians, many of whom use the hashtag, #dancingisnotacrime.

Hojabri has posted around 300 videos so far on her account, many of which display her dancing to both Iranian and Western music. Maedeh is one of so many fearless Iranians fighting for their human rights.

Iranian women are posting videos of themselves dancing on social media to protest the arrest of a teenage girl who uploaded her dance clips to the photo and video sharing platform Instagram. "It wasn't incitement, I didn't want to encourage anyone, I didn't have an objective", she said.

Instagram is the only widely used social media app that hasn't been banned in Iran. "I did not work with a network", a crying Hojabri said.

"I'm dancing so that they [the authorities] see and know that they can not take away our happiness and hope by arresting teenagers and (girls like) Maedeh", said one supporter in a tweet translated by BBC.

"I had some followers and these videos were for them. I only do gymnastics", she continued.

According to the Associated Press, Iranian authorities are considering blocking access to Instagram, but no final decision has been made.

The police said the campaign was being pushed by Persian-language satellite TV networks based overseas, purportedly encouraging women participants to take their white headscarves off in protest of the country's strict Islamic modesty laws. This is not the first incident when dancers in Iran have been jailed. Earlier in January this year, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei met with "cyberspace experts" to discuss challenges that the internet poses to the country's leadership.
