Laura Bush condemns 'cruel' immigration policy: 'It breaks my heart'

McAllen Texas. The asylum seekers had rafted across the Rio Grande from Mexico and were detained by U.S. Border Patrol agen

The baritone voice of a Border Patrol agent booms above the crying.

"Well, we have an orchestra here", the man says.

One girl, a six-year old from El Salvador, stands out. Just one call, she begs anyone who will listen. "There's not enough votes because it doesn't solve the problem", he said. When she spoke to the young girl, she said she pleaded with her to come and pick her up.

The family separations are a result of the Trump administration's new "zero-tolerance" policy, which requires authorities to detain any immigrants who cross the border and take their children into custody. More than 100 of those children are under the age of 4.

More than 1,100 people were inside the large, dark facility, which is divided into separate wings for unaccompanied children, adults on their own, and mothers and fathers with children.

The platform declares itself "against the separation of families and other human rights abuses associated with the US migration apparatus" and demands immediate action regarding the inhumane treatment towards innocent people.

"This is a matter of enormous public interest and access to these facilities has been very limited and we felt that people needed to know as much as possible what's going on in there", he said.

Former First Lady Laura Bush meanwhile wrote in a Washington Post op-ed that the tactics were "immoral" and evoked Japanese-American internment camps during the Second World War.

Almost 2,000 children have been separated from their parents at the border between mid-April and the end of May.

Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, spoke out Monday against President Donald Trump's "zero-tolerance" immigration policy and its defenders.

Most of those parents have asked for asylum, saying they are escaping incessant violence in their homes in Central America. Meanwhile, their children are taken away to separate holding facilities, to be reunited sometime later.

Donald Trump ratchets up China trade dispute with new tariffs
The tariffs were quickly matched by China on U.S. exports, including lobsters and soybeans, a move that drew the president's ire. Trump had already warned last week of "additional tariffs" should Beijing hit back with tit-for-tat duties on American goods.

The smartphone is expected to run Android 8.1 Oreo operating system topped with company's own layer of customisation Color OS 5.1. That's because Oppo has been teasing its new flagship smartphone, due to launch tomorrow, with a 93.8% screen-to-body ratio.

The former would, among other things, reduce family separation.

Both Nielsen and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in speeches to a law enforcement group in New Orleans earlier on Monday, defended the administration's stance.

Administration officials have said they are merely enforcing existing laws that dictate people trying to cross into the country illegally are, by definition, breaking the law. A Border Patrol spokesman echoed that thought in a written statement.

The audio was recorded inside a US Customs and Border Protection detention facility, according to ProPublica.

The person who made the recording asked not to be identified out of fear of retaliation, ProPublica reports.

Human rights lawyer Jennifer Harbury said she received the tape, which was secretly recorded, from a whistleblower and told ProPublica it was recorded in the last week.

The wife of 43rd President George W. Bush said the converted stores and tent cities that children are housed in hearken back to the cruel Japanese-American internment camps of World War II, which she called "one of the most shameful episodes in USA history".

Her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said Mrs Trump "hates to see children separated from their families" and believes the U.S. should be a country that "governs with heart". But the children were inconsolable.

"All of us who are seeing images of children being pulled away from moms and dads in tears were horrified", Cruz told reporters Monday. She insists on talking to her aunt.

"It was the hardest moment in my life", she said. "Imagine getting a call from your 6-year-old niece". She says, "I promise I'll behave, but please get me out of here. So as expected, they were traumatized and that was manifested in many behaviors", Davidson said in an interview with ABC News.

Cases were expedited, but a significant percentage of minors and non-detained families remained in the United States because our legal system is overwhelmed by volume, and far too many illegal entrants fail to show up for their court proceedings.
