Baltimore Dunkin' Donuts asks customers to report non-English speaking employees

Sign at Dunkin' Donuts near Hampden instructed customers to report employees 'SHOUTING in a language other than ENGLISH'

Regular customers at the store seemed appalled.

Four employees working at the location this morning declined to comment.

"The sign reads in part, "If you hear any of our staff SHOUTING in a language other than ENGLISH" to call management with the name of the employee and in return, get a coupon for a free product".

And plenty more were upset about the sign after a WBAL reporter posted a picture of it to Twitter on Monday.

The phone number belongs to a former general manager at the store, who told WBAL that it was an old sign. "Even offering a reward".

But the manager did admit that he had put up a similar sign at the store in the past and that it had received complaints from customers.

"The franchise owner has informed us that the sign was posted by their general manager based on her own personal judgment to ensure those standards are being met".

"Dunkin' Donuts and our franchises share the goal of creating a welcoming and hospitable environment for all guests".

There has been a spotlight on how customers are treated at restaurant chains since the arrest of two black men at a Philadelphia Starbucks in April.

"They're kind and courteous and do their job", customer Reagan Greenberg told the television station.

Another Twitter user said, "I love this".
