YouTube Music and YouTube Premium have just launched in the United Kingdom and are out now in 17 countries in total, including Australia and the US.
The Google-owned video-streaming platform announced the two services in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Mexico on May 16, and revealed at the time that they would be landing in a bunch of new markets "in the coming weeks".
YouTube Music offers music videos, albums, singles, remixes, live performances and covers as well as curated playlists for mood, genre or activity. It also has thousands of playlists to choose from, along with smart searching features and a list of the top music videos now on YouTube.
The new YouTube Music is out. The YouTube Music app had existed in a handful of markets for a few years, but that version was rather different from the one that launched last month. If you subscribe to it for the $11.99 monthly price, it includes a YouTube Music Premium subscription, as well as ad-free video, background playback, downloads, and access to YouTube Originals programming.
YouTube Premium gives you the Music Premium package plus access to YouTube Originals TV and films, including "the hit series Cobra Kai, Impulse, F2 Finding Football and The Sidemen Show".
With YouTube Premium, you get all the above features of YouTube Music along with plus ad-free, background, and downloads across all of YouTube. (Or $17.99 per month for a Family Plan.) Though it's now running a promotion offering the premium service free for the first three months.
