This marks Meghan's first royal appearances without her husband, Prince Harry. It was to be followed by events including the unveiling of a plaque to officially open the Mersey Gateway Bridge.

She let her hair fall down on her shoulder.

The Queen has often made overnight journeys on the Royal Train but Meghan has never been invited on one.
