Incredibles 2 becomes best opening animated film ever

Previously, the seat was taken by "Finding Dory", after it earned $135 million in its opening weekend in 2016. It remains to be seen whether or not Pixar and director Brad Bird will take another fourteen years to bring us Incredibles 3, but judging by the film's opening weekend estimates, a third installment seems all but likely at this point. The box office numbers have also been huge. The film boasts a coveted A+ CinemaScore, as well as a 94 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Disney's head of distribution, Cathleen Taff, attributes the massive opening to pent up demand for another "Incredibles" film, along with positive word of mouth. "Brad and team put together a great film that delivers something for everybody". While Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell and Samuel L Jackson reprise their voice-acting roles, Huck Milner, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener and Jonathan Banks join the cast.

Incredibles 2 is off to an incredible start.
