Kawhi Leonard trade: Celtics offer revealed as Spurs exit edges closer

Report: Gregg Popovich, Kawhi Leonard trying to meet

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Boston made San Antonio a trade offer for Leonard before the NBA's February trade deadline.

"If Leonard wants the Spurs to make that super-maximum contract offer - and indications are, yes, Leonard and his group want that offer - the history of how Popovich and Spurs president R.C. Buford do business suggests the offer won't come without significant repairs to the relationship". Wednesday morning that Leonard is going to have to convince Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and the team's front office that he is fully invested going forward before they offer him a $219 million supermax deal. So far this spring, the Spurs remain resistant to trades. For this team, so many factors impact how things move going forward, and it all centers around their 26-year-old superstar. And, according to the same report, the Spurs rejected the offer. And if Leonard does stay, let's not forget about LeBron James, who could end up joining him in San Antonio this July if things work out. The Celtics' young stars, most notably Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, broke out late in the season, and the Celtics have both players healthy and playing on rookie deals.

Woj, however, speculates that Boston may longer be interested in Leonard. When he's healthy he's one of the 3-5 best players in the world, a ruthlessly efficient scorer and the best perimeter defender the National Basketball Association has seen in years.

Afghanistan play their debut Test. "As a Test team, we can not take anyone for granted because cricket is a amusing game". Each and every Test counts and we need to win this one", Rahane said.

That does not mean it's a guarantee that the Spurs will hold onto Leonard. But if something goes awry, it wouldn't be surprising to see Boston re-ignite trade talks.

"The Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers have interest in Leonard, each with a differing array of young assets to trade for him now and the potential of salary-cap space to sign Leonard outright in 2019", Wojnarowski wrote.
