Updates on interest in Shaqiri & fee negotiation for Fekir

Liverpool's big-money move for Nabil Fekir collapsed

Lyon called off negotiations for the sale of Fekir after Liverpool tried to renegotiate the terms of the transfer after issues arose during the course of the forward's medical on Saturday.

Mohamed Salah is reportedly unhappy with Liverpool's failure to sign Nabil Fekir and is considering offers from Barcelona and Real Madrid, according to a report from Spain.

Shaqiri will feature for Switzerland in the coming weeks in the World Cup and is likely to play a key part of his national team's sides potential success in the competition that starts this Thursday.

Liverpool may well decide to go after a different player and there are plenty who could take their fancy.

One name that has been circling around the rumour mill is that of Xherdan Shaqiri.

Focus will now turn to other targets, with the club's pursuit of a new goalkeeper and another wide player (potentially Stoke's Xerdan Shaqiri), set to round off Liverpool's transfer activity this summer window.

The Ligue 1 club recently broke off transfer negotiations with Liverpool regarding the transfer of Fekir, and the Reds have prioritised Shaqiri as the ideal alternative.

Both Fekir and Klopp are still keen on seeing a move come to fruition.

Liverpool wouldn't be willing to pay much beyond that figure but a move could happen if Stoke are willing to sell.

Fekir's France are expected to go far in Russian Federation and if he plays frequently, Liverpool may feel more confident that he can handle the rigours of the Premier League.
