Fyre Festival Promoter Billy McFarland Arrested On Fraud Charges

Billy McFarland Charged for Coachella & Super Bowl Scam While Awaiting Sentencing for Fyre Festival

According to the Associated Press, Billy McFarland was arrested Tuesday on a new set of charges related to a recent ticketing scam.

While on pretrial release over the Fyre Media scheme, McFarland targeted attendees of the disastrous Fyre Festival to purchase tickets to exclusive events that didn't actually exist, including tickets to the 2018 Met Gala, according to the complaint.

Billy McFarland, center, accompanied by his attorney Randall Jackson, left, leaves federal court after pleading guilty to wire fraud charges, Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in NY.

MacFarland was charged Tuesday in NY with one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering.

Saudia Arabia attack on Yemen: Hodeidah assaulted by warships and warplanes
The conflict has also caused a cholera outbreak and brought the already impoverished nation to the verge of starvation . International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) called on Wednesday for all sides in Yemen's war to protect civilians.

The "tickets", which were supposedly intended for events including this year's Grammys, the Super Bowl, Coachella, the Met Gala and Burning Man, were sold to 15 people and amounted to almost $100,000. And he'd told his workers that he would flee if he is sentenced to more than three years in prison next week, she said. He tricked at least 15 people into buying the nonexistent tickets. McFarland is also accused of posing as the company's other employees to hide his involvement.

"Today's charges depict our intolerance for such fraudulent activity, and we will continue to diligently investigate acts such as this", FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge William F. Sweeney Jr. said in a statement. Tickets for the event cost thousands of dollars, but when attendees arrived they found poorly built tents, a lack of food and clean water and an insufficient number of public toilets.

Investors in the festival scheduled for spring 2017 lost more than $26 million in what was advertised as "the cultural experience of the decade".

Hulu announced in April it was producing a documentary series about the Fyre Festival.
