Kicked out: Parents evict 30-year-old son

Michael Rotondo

Most parents are living the life of "empty nesters" by the time their children reach 30, but one U.S. couple had to go to court to give their son that extra little push.

Seemingly plucked from the script of a Judge Judy re-run, on Tuesday a New York judge officially evicted Michael Rotondo-age 30 of Camillus, NY-from his parents' home.

Mark and Christina Rotondo of Camillus, N.Y., near Syracuse, had brought the court case forward after their son ignored several eviction letters, some of which offered money.

The parents say they had given him five written notices since February 2 telling him to leave.

In a letter written five days later on February 18, Mr Rotondo's parents then offered him money so he could find a place to stay, and a list of suggestions about how he could afford to move out.

Gutfeld said Rotondo is an example of someone "thinking everything should be free".

"You say you're entitled to six months, which really seems to be kind of outrageous, that somebody in this day and age could be in somebody else's home with a six-month notice before they have to leave", Greenwood said.

The Rotondos took Michael to the New York Supreme Court.

"3) There are jobs available even for those with a poor work history like you".

The parents' lawyer, Anthony Adorante, told Syracuse.com that the couple has been having trouble with Michael and ran out of other options.

Michael Rotondo said he does have a job, but wouldn't answer any questions about the line of work he's in. Michael is believed to have been upset by the decision, labelling it as "outrageous". He didn't speak to his parents, but he was still unprepared to leave.

As for that $1,100 from his parents, Rotondo said it's already gone. Another message urged him to either fix his auto, a Volkswagen Passat, or take it down off of the "ramps" that it was on at the Rotondos' house. "Right now, I'm just anxious about what's best for me". The boy now lives with his mother full time, who Michael says he was never married to, or in a relationship with.
