Washington, Gulf States impose sanctions on Hezbollah leaders "Sayyed Nasrallah", "Naim Qassem"

The United States hit a raft of Hezbollah leaders with new sanctions on Wednesday in a crackdown carried out with the cooperation of Gulf states including Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

In addition, the other six TFTC member countries, namely Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), also designated the key Hezballah-affiliated individuals and entities, which have already been on the USA blacklist.

The bans were mainly targeted at Shura Council, the primary decision-making body of the resistance movement. He has also managed "Hezbollah's" bank accounts.

"By targeting Hezbollah's Shura Council, our nations collectively rejected the false distinction between a so-called Political Wing and Hezbollah's global terrorist plotting", Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said.

Specifically, OFAC, together with Gulf partners, designated Hasan Nasrallah, the Secretary General of Hezbollah.

Hezbollah, which was founded after the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982 and is classified as a terrorist organization by the US, has faced off with Israel across the decades, including in a month-long war in 2006.
