Indigo staffer makes hoax bomb call ay IGI arrested

IndiGo is facing the heat yet again. When Kartik Madhav Bhat was rebuked and given a warning for his poor performance at India's IndiGo airlines, he decided to make a hoax phone call to New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport's (IGI) IndiGo Airlines complex claiming the presence of a bomb on a Mumbai-bound plane, on May 2. The 23-year-old accused, Kartik Madhav Bhat made a call from the unidentified number on May 2 at Indigo Airlines Office regarding the presence of a bomb in Mumbai-bound flight.

The IndiGo airline worker was angry over a job termination notice and chose to teach the company a lesson.

A staffer with Indigo airlines was on Sunday arrested in New Delhi for allegedly making a hoax call regarding a bomb in a Mumbai flight, news agency ANI reported.

"The meeting of the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was immediately convened and we got some Mumbai-bound flights physically checked for almost two hours before declaring the call as a hoax", said Bhatia.

IndiGo airline has been facing flak for incidents like manhandling a passenger and security breach where a passenger was made to board a wrong flight. During an investigation he told officials that his job performance was not up to the mark and he had been given a verbal notice to improve his performance in 3 months or face action. The call was later declared as Hoax.

He was serving as a customer service officer with the airline at Pune airport.

The police have placed him under arrest and also found the SIM he used to make the call in his possession.
