Nawaz Sharif's 26/11 remarks create stir in Pakistan

Constitutional petition filed against NAB chief in SC

Speaking to Pakistan's Dawn daily on Saturday, May 12, former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief suggested that his country was behind the deadly 26/11 Mumbai attacks that killed 164 people and injured over 300 others. The attack killed almost 166 people, including foreign nationals after 10 Pakistani gunmen spent three days spraying bullets and throwing grenades around city landmarks.

Former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has hit out hard at Nawaz Sharif over his Mumbai Attack remarks.

He said Sharif is not only willing to destroy all institutions, including army, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Supreme Court, but also the future of Pakistan in order to protect his wrondoings.

"We have isolated ourselves. Explain it to me", he asked, in a clear reference to the Mumbai killings blamed on 10 Pakistani terrorists.

With such an admission coming from a former prime minister who served in that capacity twice, it is outlandish for the "doves" and other apologists in India to suggest that we hold talks with Islamabad to restore good neighbourly ties with Pakistan. He even acknowledged that militant organisations were active in the country. Afghanistan's narrative is being accepted, but ours is not. We must look into it, Sharif had told Dawn.

Without naming 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed and Maulana Masood Azhar's militant organizations-Jamaat-ud-Dawah and Jaish-e-Mohammad-operating in the country with impunity, Sharif said: "Militant organisations are active in Pakistan". "Why can't we complete the trial?"

Anthony Martial a doubt for FA Cup final with knee injury
I think it will be Michael Carrick in the future", he said . "I've got some unbelievable memories to cherish". The onus will not be on ensuring players like Lukaku and Martial are fit enough for selection.

"Time has come that Shahbaz Sharif as President and Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the PML-N should stand up against Nawaz Sharif to manifest patriotism by distancing them from his anti-Pakistan concocted statement involving country in Mumbai attacks falsely", he said.

The attack occurred in India, where 90 percent of the proofs were present but India refused to share those with Pakistan, he remarked.

Sharif is the modern-day Mir Jafar, who collaborated with the British to enslave his nation for personal gains.

It is also no secret that Sharif was upset with then Pak envoy to India Abdul Basit for engaging with the Hurriyat leaders following which the Modi government cancelled Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh's trip to Islamabad.

The 26/11 trial is still at a preliminary stage of investigation after ten years notwithstanding Sharif's efforts to improve ties with India between May 2014 and Dec 2015.

He said since the attack took place in the Indian financial capital, it was the Indian government which possessed "90 per cent of the evidence and facts" of the incident.
