Apple's upcoming 6.1-inch iPhone might be surprisingly cheap

Apple iphone

That's according to a report from MacRumors. Now, the same analyst has issued a note that Apple will also launch a dual-SIM variant of at least two models this year.

The 6.1-inch iPhone, which is rumored to retain the traditional LCD display technology, could come in two variations, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote in a new investor's note on Thursday.

Apple's devices are known for their high prices and high quality, so such a low price for an iPhone could invite a bit of suspicion or hurt the exclusivity of the brand.

The new devices that are expected for release, which are considered as "budget" iPhones, are supposed to be good for the mass consumers should the pricing be accurate. To enable faster LTE speed, the company might be using Intel's XMM 7560 and Qualcomm's Snapdragon X20 modems.

Apple may be going to break a long time iPhone tradition in 2018 by launching a dual SIM variant. However, it also points to the possibility of a dual SIM dual standby (DSDS) variant. While travelling, they can simply switch the carrier to keep their cellular data and phone active. This affordable iPhone model is expected to sit alongside a new 5.8-inch OLED iPhone that could be the successor to the iPhone X and a massive, 6.5-inch iPhone that is likely to be called the iPhone X Plus. As per the predictions, the single SIM Apple iPhone may cost between $550 and $650, which the dual-SIM version of the 6.1-inch LCD model may be priced anywhere between $650 and $750. The new iPhone X Plus would be much more expensive than other Android powered premium smartphones. However, we could expect to see more of these new iPhones in the coming days.

The new iPhones will have Intel as the modem supplier, taking away Qualcomm from the initial shares intended and predicted for it.
