New defeat for Alfie Evans' parents in battle for treatment overseas

"Alfie, the family and all of our supporters are stronger than ever".

She said: "Take it to a neutral ground so there is no impact upon other children, families or staff and they would gain a lot more respect for the cause".

Tom gave a statement in which he slammed Alder Hey hospital after the court struck down their appeal.

But also accused doctors caring for their son of keeping him prisoner and treating "duty of care" as "duty to kill".

"It's not over", Tom said.

Alfie, from Bootle, Merseyside, has been at Alder Hey since December 2016 with an undiagnosed degenerative brain disease. He argued that it was a deprivation of Alfie's liberty in not letting him travel to a different hospital.

Last week, a judge decided it was in the best interests of Alfie for his life support to be switched off. Courts have refused to allow the parents to determine what is in Alfie's best interest.

Alfie's parents say "the state" is wrongly interfering with their parental choice.

The protest followed a protracted legal battle over the future of Alfie.

They won the title because they were the best team, because they won a great amount of points. He said: "We've got faith in one another, the players, the staff.

The apology comes as Alfie's parents today lost their legal battle at the Court of Appeal in London to take their terminally ill son to Italy for further treatment.

"There is a passion out there", Mr Diamond told appeal judge Lord Justice Davis, Lady Justice King and Lord Justice Moylan.

Justice Moylan denied permission to appeal to the Supreme Court. Diamond indicated that he would make a direct appeal to the Supreme Court by 4 p.m. local time on Tuesday.

Crowds of demonstrators have gathered and remained outside Alder Hey hospital in constant protest to support Alfie and his parents' attempts to seek continued treatment for him.

Mr Evans begged in an earlier Facebook post: "Can I ask that after tonight I would really appreciate if everyone has a break from the protesting please?"

However, Alder Hey said in a statement: "Noise from recent protests has unfortunately affected our patients so we would ask that noise levels outside the hospital are kept to a minimum and, for example, vehicle horns are not sounded".

As for Alfie's future prospects, staff at Bambino Gesu have offered to perform a tracheotomy to improve his aided breathing and a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy so that he can be fed through his stomach.

That hearing came after Alfie's parents failed to reach an agreement with Alder Hey bosses about their son's end of life plan.

"The awful reality was that nearly the entirety of Alfie's brain has been eroded, leaving only water and cerebral spinal fluid", Moylan said, reading from Hayden's previous decision, according to The Sun.
