LeBron James Has Perfect Response To Cavs' Game 1 Loss To Pacers

Mike Wells previews the Pacers Cavaliers series

Today was the biggest stage the Pacers have played on this season, the Sunday afternoon ABC slot for Indiana's opening playoff game in Cleveland.

All that has made Oladipo a leading contender for National Basketball Association most improved player honors, and it served as a fitting prelude to Sunday's performance, when he hit 11 of 19 shots, added six rebounds, four assists and four steals and helped snap James's personal 21-game winning streak in the first round.

Fortunately for IN, most of those shots didn't fall on Sunday, when the Cavs went just 8-for-34 (23.5 percent) from 3-point range.

James posted 24 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in the loss. Cleveland was just 8-of-34 on 3-pointers, including 1-of-9 in the fourth quarter. The result was all the more stunning when you consider the opposition, led by four-time MVP LeBron James, who had not lost a single first-round playoff game in almost six years. While I like Victor Oladipo as a player and believe that he has had a great season, I still think that he will not have another game like that this series. "I think the next game, we'll be more relaxed, and we'll come out, we'll play better".

In Boston, Al Horford had 24 points and 12 rebounds and Boston overcame Khris Middleton's long 3 that beat the fourth-quarter buzzer to top Milwaukee in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference series.

But while he knows the narrative before Wednesday night's Game 2 will be on the struggles of Cleveland's playoff newcomers, James isn't anxious.

Stephenson, when asked about his contributions to the Pacers' emphatic 98-80 win, described his energy as "contagious". "He just has to run the floor more ... just play faster and play with more energy". For much of the game, James would drive into the lane, draw a crowd of Pacers defenders, then quickly kick the ball back out to an open man.

Cavaliers: James surpassed Michael Jordan (2,188) for the second-most made field goals in playoff history. He also picked up a technical for a hard foul on LeBron James. Myles Turner put up 16 points with eight rebounds, Bojan Bogdanovic had 15 points plus six boards along with three steals and Lance Stephenson contributed 12 points.

Pacers Coach Nate McMillan would hardly have been blamed for making sure, before the series, that Oladipo was reminded of being dissed by the owner of the opposing team, but McMillan said Sunday (via ESPN), "I haven't used that type of information as bulletin board material".

IN jumped out to a huge lead to begin the game, and eventually pushed their lead as high as 23 points. "They're going to pressure us".

"We were pleased with a lot of the looks we were getting, we just can't shoot as tight", Hood said. "Obviously, you expect to win every game you approach out there on the floor, especially here at home, but we'll go back to the drawing board and be ready for Game 2". "This is a different season, a good opportunity for him to show where he's at again.". They have LeBron, after all, and they were on national television 39 times. Middleton had 31 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Jeff Green was miserable.
