US, UK announce "precision strikes" on Syria

Is Donald Trump backing down on Syria strike in spite of his tweet. Now the U.S. President is saying the attack'could be very soon or not so soon at all

The investigators, who are only mandated to determine if chemical weapons were used and not who used them, were expected to start their investigations into the Douma incident on Saturday, the Netherlands-based organization said.

During a television interview, French President Emmanuel Macron said on April 12 that he would decide "in due course" whether to strike Syria.

Theresa May and Donald Trump have agreed the use of chemical weapons must not go unchallenged and the Prime Minister has won the backing of her Cabinet for action to prevent their further use in Syria.

As the leaders spoke, explosions were heard in Damascus.

Syrian state TV said Syrian air defences shot down 13 missiles on Saturday morning.

"Important infrastructure was destroyed", Dunford said, noting that sites associated with the Syrian chemical weapons program were both "targeted and destroyed".

On Thursday, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis urged caution on attacking Syria.

The strikes are in response to a suspected gas attack on the rebel-held city of Douma last weekend. The United States and Britain have also blamed Syrian President Bashar Assad's government. Syrian activists, rescuers and medics said families suffocated in their homes.

US President Donald Trump had earlier warned regime-backer Russian Federation that "missiles will be coming" to Syria over the alleged attack in Douma that rescuers said killed 40 people.

Images showed victims of the attack foaming at the mouth.

Tough draw for Arsenal tempered by Diego Costa blow for Atletico Madrid
The Gunners will face two-time winners Atletico Madrid after the Spanish side dropped out of this season's Champions League . It was far from the ideal draw for Arsenal .

President Donald Trump insisted Thursday that he had not surrendered the element of surprise by announcing plans to launch a missile strike against Syria, writing online that he had said nothing regarding the timing of his planned strike.

"I have done so because I judge this action to be in Britain's national interest". Any US strike would probably involve the navy, given the risk to aircraft from Russian and Syrian air defenses. Military, economic and diplomatic.

The second target was a chemical weapons storage facility deemed to be the primary location of Syrian sarin gas and pre-production equipment.

According to a statement by the French presidency, Mr Macron called for dialogue between France and Russian Federation to "continue and intensify" to bring peace and stability to Syria.

"To Iran and to Russian Federation, I ask: 'What kind of a nation wants to be associated with the mass murder of innocent men, women and children?'"

"The nations of the world can be judged by the friends that they keep", he continued.

"A pre-designed scenario is being implemented".

Meanwhile, Russia's Embassy to the United Kingdom tweeted a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, that denied there was any evidence of a chemical attack.

Asked if there were circumstances in which he would back military action, he replied: "Let's cross that bridge when we get there. If there is proof that anybody else did it, they must be held responsible".

While Trump announced the "precision strikes" in Syria, Trudeau has ruled out any Canadian participation.
