Ben Carson suggests wife made decision to purchase $31000 dining set

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson is back with more anti-transgender rhetoric, saying his department is backtracking on antidiscrimination protections for trans people because their presence in homeless shelters makes others feel uncomfortable, with the implication that trans people somehow pose a threat. Under federal law, lawmakers must approve redecorating and refurnishing costs of department heads' offices if it exceeds $5,000. And I left it with my wife, I said, "help choose something", but I said, "the money that is gonna be used, we need to take care of the deputy secretary's office, and whatever is left over, take care of the dining room furniture." .

Carson said he left the decision and was too busy "running from place to place" and heading the department to be involved in the decision.

Facing the House Appropriations subcommittee on Tuesday, Carson claimed he "dismissed" himself from the furniture selection process and left his wife, Candy Carson, in charge.

Carson said. "I asked my wife also to help me with that".

But emails obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by American Oversight, a liberal watchdog group, show that Carson and his wife, Candy, were both involved in selecting the furniture.

The former presidential hopeful claims he has no idea about the final price tag until it became an issue in the news. Carson insisted the situation is "complex".

Dodgers Lose Justin Turner To Broken Left Wrist
In that series, which the Dodgers won in five games, Turner hit.333 with two home runs and seven runs batted in. He was quickly visited by a trainer and replaced by Donovan Solano . "There are guys who can move around".

"People were stuck by nails, and a chair had collapsed with someone sitting in it", said Mr. Carson, apparently referring to an email, sent by a senior aide last summer, in which she expressed the fear that the old dining set was falling apart and could lead to a mishap.

The emails also reveal HUD officials were also asked to look into purchasing a home security system for Carson, although Carson's family ultimately purchased its own home security system.

The next Carson heard about the dining set was that a $31,000 set had been ordered, he told the committee. Foster's complaint also said that she reported $10 million from the agency's 20146 budget had been mismanaged by the person previously in her position, but that other officials at the department did not want to report the issue to the appropriations committee.

The purchase of an elaborate furniture set has cast Carson in an unwelcome spotlight in recent weeks.

"It is bad enough", Price said of the dining set.

Ben Carson, the secretary of housing and urban development, is under fire for getting a $31,000 lavish dining-room set for his office.
