Police say that they believe Yu and Esterly were already on their way to Cancun.

The Twitter alert indicated that 16-year-old Amy Yu and Kevin Esterly have left the USA, and that Amy might be in danger.

Yu and Esterly went missing on March 5, less than a month after authorities were notified the two were meeting and communicating without the knowledge of the girl's mother.

Amy Yu might be in Mexico, according to an Amber Alert.

School records showed that Yu was signed out of school by Esterly, who was listed as her stepfather, 10 times between November 13 and February 9.

"From investigations it seems she is traveling on national territory in the company of Kevin Esterly", Amber Alert Mexico said in its tweet.

Amy's mother Mui Luu, who did not want to show her face on camera, says she "feels betrayed".
