Michy Batshuayi stepped off the bench to score a match-winning brace as Borussia Dortmund edged Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2 at Signal Iduna Park on Sunday evening.
Batshuayi quickly restored Dortmund's lead just 15 minutes after his introduction and the Belgian netted a last-gasp victor having seen Danny Blum level matters just three minutes earlier in stoppage time.
The result lifted Dortmund to 45 points, one behind second-placed Schalke 04, one ahead of fourth-placed Bayer Leverkusen and three in front of Eintracht who have slipped to fifth.
But it was not to be as substitute Batshuayi sent Dortmund back up to third in the Bundesliga, boosting their Champions League qualification hopes.
Andre Schurrle somehow headed Christian Pulisic's cross wide in the 10th minute as Dortmund dominated the opening exchanges.
Two minutes later, the United States midfielder did it again, crossing for Marco Reus at the far post only for Frankfurt defender Marco Russ to turn it into his own net in an attempt to clear.

Washington Sundar's magical spell changed the game for us, says Rohit Sharma
Buoyed by two victories on the bounce, India will take on Bangladesh to seal a berth in the finals of Nidahas Trophy on Wednesday. Sundar took the wickets of openers Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal, and Soumya Sarkar, putting Bangladesh in trouble at 40 for 3.
Sebastien Haller flicked on a corner at the near post and Kevin-Prince Boateng looked to convert with a backheel at the back stick, but Roman Burki got down quickly to make the save.
However, Batshuayi rescued Dortmund with another late victor in the fourth minute of stoppage time, the striker showing great composure to bring down Lukasz Piszczek's cross and lash home on the half-volley.
Werner, who came through the ranks at Stuttgart before joining Leipzig in 2016, had not scored in six league games ahead of this one, but still enjoyed the experience.
But it was another substitute, Luka Jovic, who rewarded Frankfurt's patience with the equalizer with 15 minutes remaining.
And the visitors got the leveller their hard work deserved in the 75th minute, substitute Jovic heading home another risky De Guzman cross, with Dortmund captain Marcel Schmelzer culpable for losing his man.
"I am very relieved because I haven't been scoring recently", said Batshuayi, who had not scored in three league games before Sunday. The Frankfurt goalkeeper's contract is up at the end of the season and has been linked as a replacement for the retiring Roman Weidenfeller.
