Mourinho shrugs off criticism from 'worst manager' De Boer

Former Rangers Ronald de Boer defended his brother's comments

Rashford, who scored a brace to hand United a 2-1 win over rivals Liverpool on the weekend, hasn't been a regular feature in the side as of late, but his heroics against the Reds must have given Mourinho something to think about.

This season, the England worldwide has now scored six times in the league, but he has mostly been used as a substitute.

De Boer had claimed that Mourinho did not have the patience to let Rashford develop because he was all about getting results.

Ronald de Boer has defended brother Frank de Boer in his row with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho over Marcus Rashford's playing time.

"Does he play every match from the start?"

Rashford has similarly been deployed from the bench in Europe, but has three goals in the competition so far and will hope he has done enough to earn a starting place for that game.

De Boer was sacked by Crystal Palace after just five games in charge in September having failed to register a point or score a goal in his four Premier League games in charge.

New season of 'American Idol' starts with a bang!

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has labelled Frank de Boer the "worst manager in the history of the Premier League", after the Dutchman criticised his handling of Marcus Rashford. "I have to be honest and give the credit to the people of the academy that were responsible for his formation, to Mr. [Louis] Van Gaal, who was responsible for his first season".

"If he was coached by Frank he would be coached how to lose because he lost every game. I would say he was in the top five with more matches for two seasons", Mourinho said.

'I try to give the best to the kid.

Mourinho continued to play down expectations by maintaining that his team are not among the Champions League favourites, and disputed that going out tonight would be a disaster.

"He can make mistakes but Mourinho is not like that and if he has one or two not good games then he puts him out".

The tie is delicately poised following a goalless draw in the reverse fixture in Spain last month, and Mourinho is wary of the threat posed by the Spaniards, who drew twice with Liverpool in the group stages. But when a team arrives in the last eight, anything can happen. "I don't know yet [if he is fit to play] but he trained a little bit", said the Portuguese boss.
