Roger Federer leading Federico Delbonis at Indian Wells when rain forces delay

Roger Federer emerged unscathed from a testing second set to see off Federico Delbonis 6-3 7-6 (8-6) in the opening match of his Indian Wells Masters defence on the ATP Tour.

Another win would be Federer's sixth victory at Indian Wells - more than anyone else. Federer and Delbonis resumed their match Sunday, with Federer prevailing, 6-3 7-6.

A five-time champion here in the desert had to play for two days to complete the win after the match was halted due to rain on Saturday night with Roger leading 6-3 2-2.
