Passenger Plane Crashes, Catches Fire at Nepal Airport

Nepal's Tourism Ministry Joint Secretary Suresh Acharya said 17 injured passengers have been rescued and sent to different hospitals for treatment, reports Kathmandu Post.

Passengers were being evacuated from the plane and fire fighters at the spot were trying to extinguish the fire. The aircraft with call sign S2-AGU took off from Dhaka and landed at TIA at 2:20 pm. "Details are awaited", he said.

Amanda Summers, an American who works in Nepal, watched the crash happen from the terrace of her home office.

US-Bangla Airlines operates Boeing 737-800 and smaller Bombardier Dash 8 Q-400 planes.
