USTA found mostly liable for Eugenie Bouchard's locker room fall

Tennis star Bouchard testifies about US Open locker room fall

Bouchard testified in court on Wednesday that she walked into the locker room wearing shorts, a sports bra and flip-flops when she slipped on the floor wet with cleaning chemicals and fell on her bare back.

The USTA will have to pay 75 per cent of the damages owed to Bouchard, 23, after a jury ruled in the former world number five's favour on Thursday, as per the New York Times.

Bouchard's suit, which seeks unspecified damages, claims the USTA was at fault for applying a "slippery, foreign and dangerous" cleaning substance.

A NY jury has awarded damages to Eugenie Bouchard, the tennis star who dropped out of the US Open three years ago after a fall in a trainer's room. But she withdrew from the tournament thanks to the concussion here, and her on-court performance hasn't been too strong since.

The United States Tennis Association and Canadian player Eugenie Bouchard have reached a settlement in her liability lawsuit against the organization.

And in the damages phase of the trial at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of NY, a settlement, the terms of which were kept confidential, was agreed to the satisfaction of both Bouchard and the USTA.

Bouchard has since then slid steadily in the standings; she is now ranked 116th.

"When you get 75 percent or better, you can't ever complain about that", Bouchard's attorney Benedict Morelli told reporters after the decision on Friday (NZ time). Morelli said he did not yet have an exact figure in mind for how much he will request in damages for Bouchard.

A settlement has been reached in tennis starlet Eugenie Bouchard's slip-and-fall lawsuit against the managers of the US Open.

Bouchard's lawyers have claimed that the fall and injury have hindered Bouchard's career.
